Gender Equality

Gender Equality & Women's Rights

Gender inequality and gender-based violence remain widespread in Sudan. Women and girls face systemic discrimination and harmful traditional practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and sexual harassment. They are often denied access to legal protection, quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Deep-rooted social norms and patriarchal systems continue to marginalize women's voices in decision-making spaces.

Salima Organization was founded to combat these injustices and advocate for a just, inclusive society. Our mission is to promote gender equality, empower women and girls, and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence (GBV) through:

Community-based education to shift harmful social norm

Legal awareness campaigns to help women understand and claim their righ

Leadership development programs for women and girls

Capacity-building training to enhance their skills and independence

Awareness sessions and public campaigns on gender justice

Advocacy at national and grassroots levels to influence laws and policies

We believe that true empowerment comes when women and girls are informed, protected, and supported to lead change in their own communities. By investing in gender equality, we pave the way for a more peaceful, equitable, and resilient society.
